Vulcan’s Burke Selected As Vice Chair of the School Nutrition Foundation

(Baltimore, MD) September 20, 2021 — Vulcan, the leading provider of commercial cooking equipment, recently announced that its K-12 ambassador Mike Burke has been voted in as the Vice Chair of the School Nutrition Foundation.

The foundation’s goal is to help provide resources to schools to provide healthy meals to students. The Board voted to appoint Burke to serve as Vice Chair for a one-year term.

Burke has volunteered his time with the School Nutrition Foundation as a member of the Board of Directors and a Program Advisor since 2016.  He is a certified SNS (School Nutrition Specialist) and holds a ServSafe certification.  Burke has been with ITW Food Equipment Group serving in several capacities since 1991, most recently with its Vulcan division as the K-12 Ambassador. In his role of K-12 Ambassador, Mike oversees the Vulcan Just4Schools program, helps provide deep analysis and understanding of the overall segment and offers education on important processes as they relate to the industry.

The School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) is the charitable arm of the School Nutrition Association, with an independent board of directors made up of school nutrition directors and industry partners.  Its mission is advancing school nutrition programs by providing resources to school nutrition professionals with a vision to prepare well-nourished students for success.

Through collaboration with the School Nutrition Association, allied partners and donors, the School Nutrition Foundation is committed to:

• Identifying and supporting school nutrition research, trends and innovations
• Sharing best practices with the school nutrition community
• Providing scholarships to SNA members for professional development and continuing education
